Fairy Tales always tell us a lesson, whether it be to stand
out and be yourself or to be nice to others in such a way you would want to be
treated. But most fairy tales tell us to face our fears. Stand up for ourselves
and others. In this big world we may face strange, big, small, scary, mean
people. We will meet such people. But it is our jobs to face these people in
our lifetimes and overcome this. Not only overcome people, but our fears. Our
fear is what makes us human. But what also makes us human is the fact that most
of us can overcome these fears. If we try and try again, most of us can. Just
like how people in fairy tales can defeat the dragon.

I like the choice of quotation here, the lessons we learn from the characters we let into our lives are invaluable (and often things that our parents don't tell us).

ReplyDeleteI like this quote a lot and I think, like every quote, you have to read between the lines to be able to come up with your own personal meaning to this quote. For you, your "dragons" were the people who aren't always on your side as you travel through life, and I believe a lot of other people can relate to that, including me.
ReplyDeleteI Liked the way you said " If we try and try again, most of us can. Just like how people in fairy tales can defeat the dragon." because to never give up is the key to success and to over come your fears and "defeat the dragon."
This quote really makes me think. I agree with how most fairy tales talk about facing your fears and I think that's why so many parents read those books to their kids, to show them that it's okay to be scared, you just can't let that stop you from doing everyday things. But I think as time goes one our fears change and so when we were little we could just avoid our fears, but as we get older, we learn to face them. I really like this quote and am definitely going to come back to it again sometime! Overall really great blog!
ReplyDeleteYour quote really stood out to me from the others I've seen as it wasn't standard "Books are great". It also has more hidden meaning than the norm as you do have to think about it and I think your description was apt. Off topic: whomever came up with this quote isn't doing imagination a facour by implying that dragons do not exist.
